OUR REGION
OUR HOME– RHEINHESSEN
A holiday region for those who want to combine wine enjoyment with peace, recreation & cultural experiences. Combine your wine tasting in our winery with a short vacation to relax and escape from everyday life. The hilly country of Rheinhessen is ideal for biking tours or hikes through the vineyards, even for beginners and families.
Our capital city Mainz, the Nibelungen and Luther’s city of Worms, the Volkerstadt Alzey and Oppenheim with its famous cellar labyrinth as well as the German wine museum are ideal places for cultural adventures.
In our wine town of Bechtheim, also called “Kleinod im Wonnegau,” you can explore a fountain trail and visit the Romanesque basilica, whose origins go back to the eighth century. But the Lutheran church built in 1910 and the former synagogue are yet more places worth visiting. The Rhein-Terrassen-, Jakobs-Pilger- and Weinwanderweg are perfect trails for a hike through the vineyards.

We are particularly pleased that our state capital, Mainz, and Rheinhessen have been part of the Greatwinecapitals, a group of the world’s most famous wine-growing regions, since June 2008.
In addition to Mainz, these currently include:
- Bordeaux in France
- Verona in Italy
- Bilbao / Rioja in Spain
- Porto in Portugal
- San Francisco / Napa Valley in the USA
- Valparaíso / Casablanca Valley in Chile
